Chiropractic

Chiropractic is the art and science of adjusting the spine to treat health issues. It's based on the idea that the body has an innate ability to heal itself if nerve interference is removed. Dr. Solomon uses state of the art methods of diagnosis including consultation; orthopaedic, neurological and physical examination; and radiographic examination (x-rays) when needed. At Ashburn Village Chiropractic we know that not every person is the same. Dr. Solomon is certified in many different techniques and therapies to help restore the body to maximum performance so that you can live a happy, healthy, pain free life.

Diversified Technique

One of the most commonly used techniques in chiropractic treatment, Diversified technique is known for its effectiveness in alleviating pain and supporting overall well-being. This approach uses precise manual adjustments and spinal manipulations to correct misalignments and optimize nervous system function. By realigning the spine, this technique helps reduce discomfort, enhance mobility, and promote better overall health for patients.

Thompson Technique

Named for its founder, Dr. Clay Thompson, Thompson Technique uses an adjusting table with a mechanically driven, segmented drop system which quickly lowers the portion of the table under the corresponding section of spine being adjusted. Using minimal force, the doctor thrusts at high speed, allowing the fast drop to carry the joint through its range of motion. Dr. Solomon uses leg length checks, palpation, x-rays and other appropriate tests to determine the proper area to be adjusted.

Flexion-Distraction Technique (Spinal Decompression)

Developed by Dr. James M. Cox, the Flexion-Distraction adjustment procedure and enhanced adjusting table are based on a distractive force (supplied with the contact hand) combined with table motion. The Cox table is designed to restore normal physiological range of motion to the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spinal joints. Cox Flexion-Distraction manipulation is a gentle, non-force adjusting procedure that works with the body’s natural design to aid in healing. The Cox Flexion-distraction technique is especially effective for disc issues. It was also designed to transfer metabolites into the spinal disc, decrease intradiscal pressure and decompress inflamed or compressed spinal nerve roots.

Activator Method

The Activator Method chiropractic technique uses a spring-loaded, hand-held mechanical instrument called the Activator adjusting instrument. This instrument allows chiropractors to provide a quick, low-force impulse at specific points. This low-force technique is designed to restore proper spinal alignment, improve nervous system function, and reduce pain without the twisting or cracking associated with traditional chiropractic adjustments. This technique is often preferred for patients who need a softer approach, including seniors, children, and those with conditions like osteoporosis. It is commonly used to treat back pain, neck pain, headaches, and joint issues by improving mobility and promoting the body’s natural healing process. Because of its speed and precision, the technique minimizes discomfort while effectively targeting misalignments.

Sacro Occipital Technique

The Sacro Occipital Technique (SOT) is a specialized chiropractic approach that focuses on the relationship between the sacrum (base of the spine) and the occiput (base of the skull). This technique aims to restore balance to the spine, nervous system, and cerebrospinal fluid flow by addressing misalignments and dysfunctions in these key areas. SOT uses a combination of gentle spinal adjustments, pelvic blocking, and cranial work to correct imbalances and enhance overall body function. It is particularly effective for treating chronic pain, postural issues, and tension-related conditions. By promoting proper structural and neurological function, SOT helps the body heal naturally and maintain long-term wellness.

Extremity Adjusting

Extremity Adjusting is a chiropractic technique that focuses on correcting misalignments and dysfunctions in the joints outside of the spine, including the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles. Just like spinal adjustments, extremity adjustments help restore proper joint motion, reduce pain, and improve overall function. This technique is often used to treat conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, knee pain, and ankle instability. By ensuring that extremity joints are properly aligned and functioning optimally, chiropractors can enhance mobility, reduce inflammation, and support the body’s natural healing process. Extremity adjusting is especially beneficial for athletes, individuals with repetitive strain injuries, and those recovering from joint injuries.

PhysioTherapy

Physiotherapy at Ashburn Village Chiropractic focuses on restoring mobility and overall function through targeted rehabilitation techniques. Chiropractors incorporate physiotherapy to complement spinal adjustments, using exercises, stretches, and therapeutic modalities such as electrical stimulation, and heat or cold therapy. These treatments help reduce pain, improve flexibility, and promote faster healing from injuries or chronic conditions. By addressing muscular imbalances and joint dysfunction, physiotherapy enhances the effectiveness of chiropractic care and supports long-term wellness. Whether recovering from an injury, managing chronic pain, or enhancing athletic performance, chiropractic-based physiotherapy provides a natural, non-invasive approach to healing. With hands-on care and guided exercises, patients can regain strength, stability, and confidence in their daily activities while promoting overall musculoskeletal health.

Orthotics

Orthotics can play a vital role in care by providing custom support for the feet, which helps improve overall posture and body alignment. Since the feet serve as the foundation of the body, imbalances or misalignments in the arches can lead to issues in the knees, hips, and spine. Custom orthotics help correct these imbalances by providing proper support, reducing strain on the joints, and promoting better movement patterns. By incorporating orthotics into chiropractic care, patients can experience relief from foot pain, lower back pain, and other musculoskeletal issues caused by poor biomechanics. In addition to pain relief, orthotics enhance the effectiveness of chiropractic adjustments by stabilizing the body’s foundation. They help distribute weight evenly, improve gait, and reduce stress on the spine, making it easier for the body to maintain proper alignment. Whether for athletes, individuals with chronic pain, or those recovering from injuries, custom orthotics offer long-term benefits by supporting posture, enhancing mobility, and preventing future musculoskeletal problems.

Radiology (X-Ray)

X-rays play a crucial role in chiropractic care by providing a clear, detailed view of the spine and surrounding structures. It can help chiropractors accurately diagnose misalignments, degenerative changes, fractures, or other underlying conditions that may be contributing to a patient’s pain or discomfort. By using X-rays, we can develop a precise and personalized treatment plan tailored to each patient’s needs, ensuring safer and more effective adjustments. X-rays also allow us to monitor progress over time, making necessary adjustments to care as the patient heals. In addition to diagnosing structural issues, X-rays help rule out serious conditions such as tumors, infections, or severe spinal abnormalities that may require a different approach to care. They provide valuable insight into the patient’s posture, spinal curvature, and joint health, which is essential for addressing long-term wellness. While not always required for every patient, X-rays are an important tool that enhances the accuracy, safety, and effectiveness of chiropractic treatment.
